That he promised Kate an explanation hasn't escaped his thoughts, but... the story isn't exactly one he's looking forward to telling. Still, a promise is a promise and he means to keep it. If her usual habits are anything to go by she is probably awake and in her room and if not, well, he'll find her. This asteroid isn't so very big.
If he doesn't find her, he can wait. It's something he's quite good at. Skilled at waiting will have to go on his next resume.
He can't see applying for jobs. Not here, not at home, and home is beginning to seem unreal to him. Yet it's the basis of everything he knows, and if he had begun to think of it as less than real, the Phoenix Down and X-Potion he used on Kate the other night served as a stark reminder of its actual existence. Since losing home visiting privileges he's been... hoarding those items as a reminder, as a link to Gaia. Yet he used them without a second thought when Kate needed them.
It's nice to know his human side still has a shred of compassion. Raising his gloved hand, he knocks at the door to room 317.
